Sources say that last month Foreign Minister Shimon Peres.........gave the United States damning information about Arafat's role and broken pledges on security measures.

What's bizarre about this is that if Peres knows this information, it begs the question as to why he walked out of Sharon's cabinet meeting yesterday, opposed to the current course of action.

Either he's scared of taking retaliatory steps, or has a different strategy of "dealing with" Arafat, namely maneuvering Arafat into such a position through peace negotiations that he is eliminated by his own people.

I know that sounds like quite a bizarre strategy, but I have a hard time believing that Peres would be content to have Arafat as head of a Palestinian state on the West Bank knowing how two faced he has been in these peace negotiations.
