Most people choose their cars for the possibility that they will carry more than just one person - either passengers or cargo. My experience with electric motors and battery power leads me to believe this thing will be DOA wherever there are hills. Examine the horsepower requirements of elevator motors for an idea of the power drain of gravity. The other weakness I see is recharge parameters -- time-to-charge and power consumption.

If this sort of thing made sense economically, we'd have been commuting in golf carts long ago. Same sort of propulsion/powertrain and performance envelope.
