I agree that there good reasons to expect PMs to move up and that deflation would be a disaster. However, I fear that we are going into a period of high inflation and that isn't going to be very pleasant either.

I didn't notice anything in Barron's this week concerning PMs but Epstein, in his Economic Beat Column, did a good job of pointing out that the official view that the recession started in March is based on smoke and mirrors and that the drop in GDP is largely the result of inventory reductions, a positive. However, even if the recession is short and limited, it is not clear to me that the markets would rally very much since they are so high already.

The GMI/POG ratio:

On 11/29, the Barron's GMI was 311.41, up from the previous week's value of 296.01. With the POG up to 275.54 (11/30), the ratio was up to 1.13.

The ratio a year previously was 0.91.
