Wiz, Mike, et al, who's going to be the next Irish coach?
I have a love/hate thing with the Irish, mostly because my brother is an ND man. I think they'll probably go with one of the pro coaches, since they've had a lot of success when they go that way (Holtz, Devine). Gruden is probably the best choice, but even though he probably hates working for Al Davis, I don't see how he can do it this year. The Raiders are in the thick of it and the new coach will need to commit fairly soon so that he can recruit. College football is all about recruiting, at least according to Bobby Bowden.
If I were to bet, I'd go with Coughlin. His job with JAX looks very shaky, so he'll be available in 5 weeks. Plus he's Irish (I think -- although I have proven that I don't know much about anything). |
