Engineered Animals (Audio) (4:00)
NPR's David Kestenbaum reports on the dilemma that federal
regulators face in trying to decide whether genetically altered fish
and meat should be sold to the public. At a National Academy of
Sciences meeting, researchers debated whether genetically
engineered animals are inherently different from those bred with
traditional methods. Participants had trouble discussing the issue
scientifically, without getting into questions of ethics.
