Your interpretation is different than mine .

As I see it the bad news is short term (one or two quarters)and the good news is long term (three or four quarters).

Since these stock price movements are unpredictable now its safer to be long than short. When AMAT was near a hundred the good news was short term and the bad news was long term, (the bad news being that it couldn't get any better than this...and it didn't).

Keep in mind that the three factors that influence upward stock price movements are fully intact. 1)Lower interest rates..2)Lower energy prices 3) A recovering economy

But these are just opinions and worth what you paid for them.
