Ted,

Read my lips Stagnant. Go back and look at the charts. 6 1/2 months
ago Intel was trading at $142 same as today. It has been as low as $125
and as high as $163.
<Hasn't Intel tripled in the past year> Yeah and S3 has gone up 2 1/2
times in the same period. If you bought 1000 shares of Intel near it's
high you would be out $27K, with S3 same 1000 sares you would be out
$13K. It all depends how you want to look at it. You don't like the
stock at this price, I do. Don't get me wrong, S3 is not even close
to being in Intel's class and you are correct when you stated that
the graphics market sucks. That is the reason why this company and
other in this market are trading at or near their lows. Last I checked
ATI was trading at $13 US. TDDDF seems to be the exception but they
are off $11 from their high and have a PE over 100, same as S3 in
their early days.

Ted short term I agree that S3 is going to take its lumps and loose some
market share. But the company says they will return to double digit
growth and margins will start to improve in the second 1/2 off the
year,we will have to wait and see. S3 had the opportunity to recant
that statement when they released the latest press warning.

Now the future. Its true that S3 has been passed in technology for
3D. They are going to deversify into other areas. This takes some
time and we will have to wait and see if they are successful. S3 stated
that graphics will be only 40% of revenues by? ( I forgot their time
frame to be honest) The product roadmap looks like they have potential
to be major players in other areas. I think you will see some of this
starting in Sept.97 with mobile and 98 with the video product.

In the mean time the stock could go to mid 8's but will start to
recover in Aug. I am keeping a core position for long term and
buying on dips for trades.

Ted a side note - What stocks are you invested in? Would you mind
sharing.
