Actually it's a bit subtler than that. We create (actually co-create) our shared reality by these countless choices, for our only 'constraint' is that we are not free not to choose. When we say "this is good, that is not" we define ourselves and make a statement about Who We Are. This is the process of life, of God "Godding". The purpose of this duality is to permit us to create and know ourselves experientially, because as CWG puts it, "In the absence of that which I am not, that which I am is not".

It is important to appreciate that what seems "real" is illusion but also that this "illusion" is in fact real, for there is no other "reality" which can be known experientially. This is one of the key differences between this viewpoint and many esoteric systems. All too often these tend to downplay the importance of what we might call "the real world" in the same way that many religions try to shift focus from the "here" to the "hereafter".
