This is an old article. I think nForce was so attractive from the point of view of OEMs that some of them, most likely HP, wanted to stadardize on it. HP had a short lived DDR based machines, probably based on AMD chip, but I have not seen them much anymore. The machines I have seen a lot of are based on Thunderbird, 200 MHz FSB, SDRAM.
