But there are also biological agents in the wild that have a much higher mortality rate, have no vaccines, and are far more contagious. Real nukes? The US does what it can to prevent proliferation. Mass scale stuff to get more than 50%. I could argue either way whether the threat is increasing or diminishing. Prior to this Administration we were purchasing excess fissionable materials from the Russians. We've stopped that effort. Dirty bombs? Not reasonable to expect that would result in greater than 50% casualties. Other biological weapons? Good ones take lots of infrastructure.. Not the ones in the wild. ...that at this point in history the US is a very formidable and dangerous military power That's a theme that goes through several of your candidates. Two options for your statement of fact. We can get even. That still doesn't constitute diminishing the threat. Second option is getting even constitutes a deterrence. With nation states it may, with terrorists it doesn't. Even getting even, as an end, has it's limitations. If you're talking about a terrorist organization then no terrorist organization in the world has a size that comes even close to 200 million [an arbitrary number that represents greater than 50% of the US population]. I think you're, understandably, limiting yourself to a US perspective, which has some sanity. Think insane! jttmab
