I believe in the Fatherhood of God, the Brotherhood of Man, and the stewardship of natural resources. I am not a vegan, nor do I think that animals have rights. I do not, however, think that we should be gratuitously cruel to animals. If there are other beings in the universe that seem to have reason and personality in a manner that we can relate to, my presumption would be that they should be treated as we would human strangers, with hospitality if they are not aggressive. I am not a libertarian, and I do not think that either self- interest or altruism are sufficient yardsticks for the moral worth of actions. I think that the main theme of ordinary morality is human dignity, and that means both that we matter and that others matter. We should seek a just result, whether it cuts against our interests or is beneficial to ourselves.......
