Peter: Current estimates suggest 80.0 million 64 Mbit units will be shipped THIS YEAR (not a misprint) and demand nowhere near this figure. Pricing environment for 64 is crummy. Nothing that I can see suggests that 256 Mbit will experience better marketing or pricing conditions than current products must deal with. Also a long road to travel to successful 256 production, especially without deep pockets. Where does any profitability come from? MU's "skip 64, go to 256" commentary smacks of pure hype, given current state of company's balance sheet, company R&D expenditures, generic current supply/demand situation for larger memory chips, lousy pricing environment, etc.
Best, Earlie
