Fogg,
Thank you. Your analysis is interesting and to the point.

I think the FTC and EU could reject this merger. Management says it is not about PCs. The merger has too much PC content for the FTC and EU to ignore.

Ask KKR if they fancy CPQ KKR likes companies where they can drive expenses down. MC may have beat them to the punch on expenses. The CPQ parts are worth more then the whole and that might be an attraction. Another option might be combining an IT service company with CPQ. The last could make sense if KKR already owned one or several IT service companies. Right now I don't think CPQ is on KKR's radar.

Viewing HWP and CPQ from the outside is difficult. However, I think CPQ has the stronger potential over the next five years. HWP appears to have a more difficult row to hoe over the next five years. HWP appears to need CPQ more the CPQ needs HWP. I find it ironic that HWP stock holders may defeat the merger.

Thank you again for your analysis. It did influence my thoughts about the merger. While the focus is on the HWP vote, I don't think the CPQ vote is in the bag.
