Vari-L Company Appoints David M. Risley to Board of Directors
DENVER, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Vari-L Company, Inc. (OTC: VARL - news), a leading provider of advanced components for the wireless telecommunications industry, today announced that David M. Risley has been named to the Company's Board of Directors. With the addition of Mr. Risley, Vari-L's Board is now comprised of five non-employee directors.

Mr. Risley brings to Vari-L more than 30 years of diversified business and finance experience, including senior-level management positions with four NYSE-listed companies. He currently serves as senior vice president and chief financial officer of La-Z-Boy Inc. (NYSE: LZB - news), a $2.2 billion furniture manufacturer, where his responsibilities include treasury, accounting, tax, audit, information systems, legal services, strategic planning and investor relations.

Prior to joining La-Z-Boy, Mr. Risley was vice president of finance and chief financial officer with Aeroquip Vickers, Inc., a $2.2 billion manufacturing firm serving the industrial, aerospace, and automotive markets with power and motion control devices, fluid connectors and composite components. Previous assignments include vice president and controller of Heizer Corporation, a $300 million venture capital and business development firm and various positions with TransUnion Corporation, a diversified $1.2 billion conglomerate. He began his career as a certified public accountant with Arthur Young & Company (now Ernst & Young LLP). He holds a BBA in Accounting from the University of Iowa and an MBA in Finance from Loyola University of Chicago.
