Larry, I think we should differentiate between a 'secular bull" and a cyclical bull. A new "all time high" could be a sign of a secular bull, but a cyclical bull, may have a 52 weeks high as a "signal'. personally, i use 4 months not dropping under the 200 DMA. Mind you, on rare occasions, even an all time high in a venerable index like the Dow may still be only a part of a cyclical bull market. I expect us to make an all time high on the Dow in the next few years within the framework of one of the cyclical bull markets I expect over then next 5 to seven years.
