I, obviously, don't agree with you on this.
Islam isn't simply a belief; it is a way of life. It was meant to be a much more complete code of conduct for virtually every aspect of someone's life. Islam will never be "sanitized" the way you would like it to be.
<< Islam (the religion) consists of Quran (and books such as Hadith). These books contain verses that absolutely are out of date, violent in nature and do not make sense with the 21st century civilization standards and beyond). >>
In your opinion.
<< And I do not buy the spin that one has to know the Arabic language well to understand them. That is illogical. >>
I'm sorry you think that. But it is the truth. Ask any Muslim.
<< Look at Christianity. It has been translated in every language you can think of, and yet its message is identical throughout this planet! >>
Maybe the "sanitized" message is the same, but the different versions of the Bible are not. This is a forum on Islam, so we shouldn't get into discussing this. I'll just end this topic by saying one only has to compare the King James, the RSV, the Douay-Rheims, etc. to see that every verse isn't translated in the exact same way into English.
<< Islam (the belief) however seems to consist of a set of peaceful, loving logical frameworks for a Muslim to live his life. Islam (the belief) is - in my humble view - far far different than Islam (the religion). >>
I claim that the belief and the religion are the same way. Just because humans at this point in history aren't implementing the religion in a proper way, doesn't mean the religion should be condemned.
<< The word of God is really simple and should not take a rocket scientist with 10 PHDs in the Arabic language to understand! Good Thoughts, Good Words, and Good Deeds should not take a complicated book to describe! After all we - as human beings - have been given the greatest gift that God could have ever given us besides our lives - namely our intellect! And our intellect should be suffice for us to know easily what Good Thoughts, Good Words, and Good Deeds are! >>
Yes, we are given intellect. Why shouldn't humans take the time to use their intellect to figure out some of the deeper and more complex things the Quran conveys. People dedicate much more of their intellect to their day job then they do to their religion. People should be willing to dedicate time and effort to understand something as important to their life as religion (IMO).
The basics of Islam are rather simple and easy to learn. Islam addresses much more than the basics of life, however. A minute to learn, but a lifetime to master. |
