He seems idealistic - I don't think he was intent on becoming a terrorist - he just wanted to fight for the Taliban cause. But I don't think he knew what their real cause was. In any event, like I said, everything changed 9/11/01. He should have seen that and pulled out but he didn't. That was a fatal error in judgment.
