I also hate shopping and only go once or twice a year for clothes -- I know I can get more at a Kohls or TJMaxx store now than I could last year or the year before for $100 - $200, if I play their games to get the discounts.

re moves of production overseas -- I think this shift had largely taken place prior to the late 90's, with a few exceptions. I'll try to dig up some figures ...
