Generally I agree with what you say. The picture is often:
"God spoke to us in the past through his one and only
Messenger, who is our Savior, and Who Is the only such
Messenger ever. Any other such revelations are false and
idolatrous".

Eastern religions (at least some of them) do not convey the
"one time" aspects because they have a tradition of living
Gurus. In such religions the Revelation of God is seen as an ongoing process.
