Yaacov, off topic. I have been to Germany many many times. My wife is from Germany and still has relatives there with businesses. I remember when we went to visit after the unification. { I guess you remember how prosperous Germany was at that time} Most everyone seemed very happy and my wife, having not lived there for a long time, pointed out the pitfalls that would be coming up. Nobody believed it and thought it would be the greatest thing. It was of course, but in cost it was unbelievable. I know that today a lot of Germans decry the cost, but hey, it had to be done. Eastern Germany is still in the doldrums with unemployment out of sight. The neighboring eastern countries are also in shambles. It will take a while longer. Nothing was done in those parts of Europe, especially in terms of infrastructure and the houses and factories need great restoration. They are a pityful sight. Well, so much about the tribunal to communism.
As far as ZEISS is concerned, we have a saying here:" Go West young man, go West". I don't know if you know this, but thats exactly what part of ZEISS did. The other part in the East called itself JENA.
Good thing its Saturday, so we are not hurting the thread too much with our conversation about this subject.
Have a nice weekend
