I suppose there are varying degrees of wacko. All superstitious religious people are wacko, but believing something and acting on it [other than to check it out more closely or to escape from clear and present danger] are two quite different things! Heck, I'm a religious crank too, because I believe things [like black holes and various theories to explain what the heck is going on, which nobody knows], but I don't go around blowing people and buildings up because they don't go along with my wilder theories. I certainly don't do it unless somebody gives me a double your money back guarantee that I'd get the 72 virgins.

Your average Methodist, methodically living what they think is a good life is almost rational. We have to construct some system of belief on "what the heck is going on" to explain what we are, where we came from, why we are here and where we are going to make it worth getting up in the morning, unless we just live like chimps and just exist in thrall to our emotions.
