What do I think of Ashcroft *****less and less with each passing day.

Right now Ashcroft cannot be attacked headon because he is busy protecting the country from terrorists and denying to the whole country that the "the Bill of Rights" and the Constitution are meaningful documents for the Nations Head Cop.

I don't recall him being given powers to negate "The Bill of Rights". The Arab men he is holding for Passport violations should be charged, deported, or released.

But the dogs (Democrats, Republicans and Civil Libertarians) are nipping at his heels. He will be brought to bay, cornered and discharged .

The same thing happened to Mc Carthy in the 50's. At first he was invinceable, then the cracks formed and then he was toppled.

A year from now, when the attacks against him continue to mount Bush will realize that Ashcroft is a huge liability to his second term and he will have to go. A nice (public)handshake, a pat on the back, and a kick in the ass should Ashcroft hesitate to depart. Politics as usual.
