OT re: they have a common, unfixable problem

I feel your pain.

I've got 3 PCs at home, bought in 2-3 year intervals. They run on Windows 95 ("upgraded" with a glitchy program that's supposed to turn it into Windows 98, a real Frankenstein), Windows 2000, and XP. They all have ethernet cards and are plugged into a hub. My wife and I (8 years of postgrad education between us) can't get them to network, do things like share printers. We're not the types who give up easily, but this has beaten us.
