John, Why doesn't Intel sell 2 Piiis instead of 1 P4? They take about the same production resources. There would be no shortage. Think about it - AMD selling XP 1900+, Intel selling 1 GHz Piii. Intel has to sell chips that are in the same desirability ballpark as AMD chips, but it means making chips that Intel can't make in sufficient quantity. The shortage was a deliberate tradeoff. Joe
