Paul, re: "The company [AMD] also reported the repurchase of 6.3 million shares of its common stock during the quarter. " Ref: amd.com And even with this repurchase the number of shares outstanding (fully diluted) increased by 4.5M (less than 1%). Also interesting that at the end of 3Q01 the Basic and Diluted share tallies were the same so all the outstanding options were out of the money! YoY AMD's Diluted share count dropped slightly (probably largely due to the share price drop on outstanding options) but Basic expanded due to options exercise and the conversion of the convertible bonds. -PT
