What about insider buying? Instead we have 401k lock downs prior to bankruptcies of previously "blue chip" companies. I don't think comparisons are of any value. The recent rally is pricing the much anticipated recovery in the second half of next year. Just like the April/May rally priced in a recovery for this year that never came. If we recover, we can move up. If it does not look like we recover until 2003, we tank again.
