European Computer-Related Shares May Rise; BP Seen Lower
By Alistair Barr

London, Dec. 7 (Bloomberg) -- European computer-related shares, including STMicroelectronics NV, may rise after Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc., the No. 1 makers of computer chips, raised sales targets. Oil stocks may drop after crude slumped 5 percent in New York yesterday.

Futures on the French CAC 40 index were unchanged at 4690 points. The benchmark FT-SE 100 Index may open 13 points lower, while the German DAX index may slide 20 points, according to IG Group Plc. The U.S. Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 0.3 percent yesterday and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.4 percent.

The Dow Jones Stoxx 50 index has gained 4.2 percent this week, led by computer-related shares including Siemens AG, Ericsson AB and Royal Philips Electronics NV, which have jumped more than 10 percent.

``The market has enjoyed a tremendous run in the last 10 weeks and I do think there are reasons to be optimistic that it will end the year higher than it is right now,'' said Charlie Crane, who helps oversee $4 billion at Victory SBSF Capital Management in New York. Crane's been buying shares of capital goods, technology and communications companies.
