Besides a Republican controlled congress prisided over the budgets throughout the nineties they wer the one who decided what to spend on defense. Why do we need to increase the size of the military, we can't find an enemy who can threaten the US. Our Navy alone has enough fire power at this moment to blow the world up fifty times, and has no other Navy that can challenge it, so on what do you base your need for more firepower. The Republican pork barrel need for spending and wasting money on useles military projects. The monies would better spent on chem bio defense except that the military industrial complex would get no benefit, so we will build a useless shield instead
