I'm not sure I understand what's going on but I get scanned many times a day for open ports. Some days it's into the hundreds. Most of this traffic is harmless. Isp's ping their customers to monitor connections and things like that. Another common source of pings to your system is web sites that you just visited not wanting to let you go. They don't know whether you have left by choice or what and they try to reestablish communications with you. Some of these contacts can be and are scanners looking to break into your computer. Always on connections are their primary targets. I'm sure someone can give you a much more precise answer eventually.
