Jacob:Where have the shorters gone?
The rules for short (less than month), intermediate (1-month to 6 month) and long term ( more then 6 months) are same except the duration changes. These are my rules:

First rule for short term trading: Minimize losses, one has to sell at fixed points or before. You can choose preset points for losses and stick to them. This way the losses will be small******This is my golden rule******** Each time I betrayed this I got in trouble.

Second rule: Follow the trend. I follow charts very closely. P&F and the trend of successive highs and lows. If the trend is breached then play it safe. with smaller bets.

( I have been playing long through out this year and last year. When play against the trend make small bets and take smaller profits, when playing with the trend I make bigger bets.)

Third rule: No could have, would have or should have. losing momey is as much part of the game as making money. If after making a bet things don't go your way, get out because prayers are not going to turn it around.

Short term trading last year was my best year, This year is the worst but still about 40% up.

ST trading works, LT trading works and Shorting works; Not everyone can do it must develop your own methods.
