Jerome, I understand fully. I didnt mean to make light of it. Guys like ted williams were called for both wars. But if we are to make excuses for fdr we must be prepared to give bush/rummy/ashcraft some slack here. Our grandkids may be ripping us a new one over unnecessary detentions for arab. We cant know that know. But we can tell our grandkids that while it was going on this country truly was in peril and these current folks were acting like lincoln, fdr etal. The penchant of fanatical liberals like cary to throw around the term fascist is inexcusable. I dont view it that way and i would like you to move a step toward me and will on this one because it would be right for you to do it. You can still be a liberal and you can still criticise excess without the hyperbole of calling bush et al fascists. mike
