Dear Westi: These situations are so common . I don't sit there and say that the person was foolish. I would never even question a person's sincerity, that is up to God. But I would say that there is one grave concern....remember the sower and some seed fell on the wayside, and some in the stony places, and some in the thorns, and some in the good earth. You see there are two classes now mixed together the professors and the possessors, the 'tares' in with the wheat. Believers increase in knowledge but professors grow into more ignorance and more darkness. It is not for us to separate the two. If there was a true conversion, meaning not only profession but an understanding of Gods eternal plan for salvation Petey will be healed. Even then he may hit a stony place and back slide. The evil one will try to take away his salvation and his subsequent healing. The good earth has been rid of the thorns or the cares of this life, and very specifically the deceitfulness of riches. The stones are literally the hard spots. When the road gets hard and the persecution begins he may just give up and be 'offended' as the word says. So taking root is not enough, you have to take root deeply. Being cast on the wayside the birds will devour the seed before it germinates. The cares of this world or dissapointment or persecution will get the rest. It is imperative that this man begin reading the Book of Matthew that he be told how critical his spiritual situation is right now . Openness and honesty is the best policy. This is going to take a lot of prayer , binding of the one that desires to snatch away. And proper preparation. But the central theme is that God's desire is for him to be fruitful...not for him to be healed, and this is going to be very hard for him to understand. But I'll ensure him in the name of Jesus that once fruitful his healing will have already have taken place. Therefore my central prayer is for him to become fruitful....everything else is secondary to this prayer and he must also understand this .In Christ.gregor AMEN..
