Er....

1) detained is not arrested.

2) detained (for immigration violations) means you are very much on the hook to the Gov (if you are legit-intentioned immigrant), and not not so much if you are false immigrant/terrorist fellow traveler-type who couldn't care less.

3) the illustrious Drudge may have interviewed a detainee, but can anyone tell me: A) How many detained/held? B) How many charged, and with what? C) Who?

Last news items I saw claimed 12 or 13 criminal charges so far (all immigration violations) out of approx. 3000 detainees. No names released.

By the way, arrests are public info. Charges are public info. Go down to your local courthouse and look at them. Doesn't matter if (as you say) "detained (don't) want to release the fact they were arrested. It's their civil right to privacy."

Once charged with a crime you have no such right to privacy... it's public knowledge. Or else Jogh Gotti could have just said 'protect my privacy and keep the arrest secret' :)

Privacy rights also wouldn't apply to illegal immigrants, so that's a rather foolish claim.
