wbmw,
You are accusing him of lying without any more proof than the wording of his response, taken out of context. Hardly conclusive.
If Intel lost some 5% of market share, and Intel statements on market share are "approximately flat", "gained market share", with exception of a single quarter when they say that market share fluctuates up and down a percentage or 2, it clearly does not add up, and Intel is lying.
Just the last CC yesterday, Intel alluded to gaining market share. How can Intel know it to be true?
Let me repeat, Intel has all the incentives to lie. Suppose Intel was honest and the CC speakers said "We are wrestling on the ground with AMD for every 1/10th of a % of market share. It is a standoff, and it will continue to be a standoff as far as eye can see".
Intel does not want this to be known. The impression Intel is trying to create is that they are in process of finishing AMD off, and the resumption of the past profitability and dominance is imminent.
Since this is the image Intel wants to project, Intel can never be seen as losing ground, and that's where the lying about market share comes in when Intel is losing ground.
