There are enough AMD processors available in the top speed grade, and the overall supply is plentiful.

Hector said the supply was constrained. He wouldn't lie would he? As for the availability of highspeed Athlons, AMD is carefully controlling demand by pricing them so high. No wonder they're available.

My prediction is that in Q1 2002, when Intel's Northwood comes online, in addition to the .18u P4 lines, the supply problems Intel has had will be worked out, and we will be back to the glut scenario with dropping ASPs.

You're probably right about this but Intel's costs will be lower. AMD only does well when Intel is capacity constrained. That won't be the case in Q1.
