You forgot one possibility. AMD could have the yield, unit volumes, and capacity that they claim. In reality, AMD could really have produced 15M CPUs last quarter, but Jerry needed half of them to tile his bathroom floor in his Bel Air mansion. He probably figured that the ceramic packaging would look very nice with his fully brass decor. Jerry is very good at using AMD's money - he wouldn't even have needed to pay a dime for those 7.3M CPUs. Later, he no doubt promised that he wouldn't do it again for this quarter, so that AMD can finally claim record CPU revenues again.

It all makes perfect sense. <VBG>
