Good to be king of what? what? The Sewer Thread. Actually sewers have a highly important place in the history of the world, and by extension, Foreign Affairs, and one could do worse than learning about and appreciating them. The Cloaca Maxima ("Big Time Sewer") begun in 400 BC or so by King Tarquinius, drained the swampy plain between the Esquinale, Capitoline and Palatine Hills to create... ... the Roman Forum! The mouth of the Cloaca, where it egresses into the Tiber, is still visible today, and if you don't mind getting your feet muddy you can even walk a little ways into it. If you're ever in Rome, I highly recommend it. PM me and I'll give you directions. The Cloaca Maxima gave rise to Western Civilization as we know it! So, sewers are good!
