It is so easy to install a fresh copy of SULFNBK.EXE, that if one is concerned about their system being infected by a corrupt version of this file, the few seconds spent will be well repaid by peace of mind.
Use Windows Find Files & Folders. In the File Name box, type *.CAB to search cabinet files. In the Containing text box, type SULFNBK. Be sure the Windows CD appears in the Look In box.
Click the .CAB file in the Find window and Explorer will display its contents. Right-click SULFNBK.EXE, then click Extract button that appears. Explorer will open a new window to enable you to choose a location to put the extracted file. You can put it in Windows\Command, but I wouldn’t, just yet.
I chose to put it in a work area. Knowing that my newly extracted file cannot be corrupt, I then compared it with the original on my system and determined that they were identical. Knowing that there was never any problem with SULFNBK, I was freed from searching for further trouble.
In Start/Run, I typed, FC /B C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\SULFNBK.EXE F:SULFNBK.EXE to compare the files. FC, or File Compare is a DOS command, so the results will display in a DOS window. (The /B instructs FC to do a binary (total) compare.)
Cheers, PW.
