I'm not aware of any chip made by SUNW that is as fast as the Pentium 4.
Every year I look at Sun's offerings and I can't remember when they were ever the fastest, though the servers are certainly popular.
As for IBM, ditto for workstations. I presume the CPU's of their main frames are very fast but for the same $ spent I hear you get more throughput with a network of Unix boxes, running the Pentium 4 or AMD's fastest chip. Also, even if IBM sold fast CPU chips the rest of the company is so big that you wouldn't be buying much of a pure play on fast cpus. Right?
