Yep... it would be extremely difficult. But nothing is impossible...

The Israelis have done it before in Syria (Eli Cohen), who reach the top of the Syrian Government .

Thus, there are all kinds of scenarios that could be discussed, where an Arab Al-Qaida member might have been turned as the result of being lured into committing an "unpardonable sin" (like cooperating with Jews.. etc) in the eyes of Al-Qaida.

But I would concur.. given the nature of the organization and its extremism, the odds of obtaining such an agent would be extremely slim.

But they have just as capable a SIGINT capability as the US does in the region.. and a wealth of Arab speaking Jews to provide quick translation, which has always been something the US lacks.

Who knows? I just offer it, like the suspicion about these Israelis detained by the FBI, as food for thought.

I'm waiting to see if these guys are ever permitted to open their mouths about the events that led to their detention.
