Cant answer your questions specifically, but the sector generally moves in correlation with the price of oil and gas futures.....supply and demand.....oil country maneuverings and global socio-political stuff. Many of these oilfield service companies have a variety of subdivisions that do everything from asbestos removal to shipbuilding to transportation of oil/coal/liquid gas/etc. The asbestos lawsuits were filed againest Dresser Industries, a subsidiary of Haliburtons.

Trading the drillers/oilfield services is dependent on factors not associated with the techs like weather, oil/ng futures, OPEC, storage, capacity, etc.
