And if everyone were a free thinker society would be more problematic. The need for free thinkers is probably not great. I am sure they move things along, when things get stuck- but you wouldn't want to try to rule a whole colony of them. After all, they wouldn't listen. They wouldn't follow rules (they'd always be thinking up better ones). They would be difficult to lead into battle (would they follow orders? Would they even agree with 'the Cause'?)

That is why the Greeks killed Socrates (ok ok so they didn't really kill him.....). For corrupting the youth with free thinking. :-)
