You are missing the point. It doesn't matter if Intel loses a little on every X-Box chip. They will make it up on volume!!! ASPs are not given or broken down, If Intel gains share then they will point that out. You can't lose.

You know, for people who deal with semiconductor professionals all day, every day, it's hard to slow down and explain the glaringly obvious to the layman.

AMD is struggling with yield problems just to produce 7.7 million Athlons. They're losing money hand over fist and they have a wacko for a leader. Imagine what a pickle MSFT would be in if they were depending on AMD to meet any demand MSFT may have for Xbox processors now and for years into the future. There is no way on God's green earth that MSFT was going to contract AMD to supply Xbox processors. No way. MSFT was toying with AMD to try and get leverage on Intel to lower prices, but Intel isn't stupid. Intel knew MSFT wasn't going to commit a major product line to a bunch of flakes, only Intel could guarantee availability. There is no way Intel would set aside the potential capacity to meet demand unless they were compensated. If anything it was Intel who had MSFT over a barrel. I've kept my mouth shut for too long on this because I couldn't believe you AMDroids were stupid enough to miss what was so obvious.

Never over estimate the intelligence of an AMDroid.

Because you can't figure it out for yourselves, I'll give it to you. Within reason, Intel could demand whatever they wanted to for Xbox processors because MSFT couldn't find a reliable source anywhere else. Intel knew it. MSFT knew it.

It's really not all that complicated. It's been right there in front of your face but you couldn't see it.
