The point of getting the design win was to open up new markets for their CPUs, and to prevent the design win from going towards their competitor. I don't doubt that Intel had to make the price favorable in addition to insuring .18u capacity for five years.

Think this one through Wanna. It would certainly have been to Intel's advantage to have AMD tie up large amounts of capacity over the next few years supporting older process technology and selling low cost processors. Intel would almost pay to do that, unless it was to their advantage to do otherwise.
