I am still bothered by your use of the term "am willing to give up". Citizens are giving up nothing. Legal residents, to my knowlege from the press sources, are giving up nothing. And I contend that non-citizens never had the same standing under our Constitution that citizens do. For that matter illegal aliens do not have the same protections that legal aliens do. A lot of anti-administration folks are trying to make an issue of this matter but watch their language. They imply a lot of bad things or potential bad things but are very careful not to say that what is being done violates anyone's constitutional rights. They talk instead about "fairness" or "our values" without defining what they mean. I am all for combatants adopting whatever rules they choose which make war a little less inhumane but I don't see where the other side has adopted any rules of engagement to be reciprocated.
