The survey didn't seem to ask about using abortion as birth control. It just asked the obvious question whether another method of birth control was being used when the woman got pregnant. Most of the well known birth control methods are pretty effective so it seems self evident that only a small fraction of women who are getting pregnant used birth control.

Using abortion as birth control means that abortion is being used as a back-up method to ineffective or improperly used contraception,
This definition is very loose and does not coorespond to what most people would consider birth control. It is a case of creating a definition mixed with misleading statistics.
