sun-tzu here is another guy who feels we are dealing with the funds playing catch up.

Beta Hunters

Editor's note: Today we feature James "RevShark" De Porre. You can email him at RevShark@aol.com.

We opened at the lows and moved straight up. Obviously lots of money still wants in to this market.

What we have going on is the hunt for high beta. The only way funds can finish this year strong is by buying stocks that have greater volatility than the overall market, i.e., high beta. They have to outperform and you can't do it unless you roll the dice. You can argue with them or play the game. I'm playing the game. The elephants can lead the way and I'll tag along.

Doing a few buys here in the early going: Pivotal (PVTL:Nasdaq), StorageNetworks (STOR:Nasdaq) and Vitesse (VTSS:Nasdaq) on big volume surges, some Apollo Group (APOL:Nasdaq) on a break to a new high and a few others.

IBM (IBM:NYSE) looks like the tell for this market.

Long PVTL, STOR, VTSS, APOL.
