What A Gentleman
UK Sun's Parker reports that bin Laden "ordered the wives" of al Qaeda to fight
12/6. He "told his henchmen to give guns to their burqa-clad women," and his
"desperation was revealed when anti-Taliban tribesmen intercepted his radio
messages." One "of his chiefs was heard to transmit": "The Sheik says keep your
children in the caves and fight for Allah. Give guns to your wives as necessary to fight
against the infidel aggressors." bin Laden "was said by local forces to have skulked out
of Tora Bora on horseback at night" (12/7).

What Will The Weekend
Bring

Could a number of loose ends be tied up in
Afghanistan? The country is essentially sans the
Taliban, as far as control is concerned. But while
the country isn't being ruled by the Taliban and al
Qaeda, the U.S. still faces the same problem they
had when this operation began -- finding bin Laden.
(#3)

Some speculation has bin Laden slipping into the
Taliban-friendly portion of Pakistan. But since there
have been no confirmed reports of bin Laden
sightings in weeks, who's to say anyone can know
for sure.

In some ways, the search for bin Laden is starting to
take on Elvis-proportions. In today's coverage
alone, four areas are speculated upon: Pakistan,
Tora Bora, Milawa and Nigeria. Could it be that
like Elvis, bin Laden's really dead? If he were alive,
wouldn't he be bragging about his ability to slip the
U.S. to any Al-Jazeera type that would listen?
