The strategy not to make a fight out of DSL...to protect current business sets the tone and is an outgrowth of monopolistic culture from whence the ILEC's spring. Hunker down is almost certainly the best way not to blow a ton of money down a rat hole in the near term, but later business schools may retrospectively lump this with decisions by railroads not to pursue trucking....a missed opportunity to choose a substantial growth path over one of continued decline.
