Doesn't MSFT give theirs away? Doesn't that mean they're just plain not getting paid ;)?

which implementation is fastest for the majority of users?

I've got quite a bit of work to do, but when I get the time later tonight, I'll look it up. I think you'll be surprised at how many people are using non-Wintel machines. Just so you know, this is how I'll count it :

Wintel - All x86 and AlphaNT based machines (by machine)
Non-Wintel - Everything else (my user, for multi-user OSes)

If you've got a problem, let me know and I'll adjust my categories. Right now, though, I think you'll lose.
